Life Steps offers counseling by Masters Level Licensed Independent Social Workers, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors and Certified Chemical Independent Counselors. We also have a psychiatrist available onsite.



Tracy Motta Hamilton, MSSA, LISW
Tracy has a Master's Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She became a Licensed Independent Social Worker in 1996. Prior to working private practice, she worked at Remuda Ranch Center for Anorexia & Bulimia as a therapist conducting individual and group therapy. At Arizona's Children Association, she did in-home therapy with children and families. She has also worked in a mentoring program, with juvenile offenders, and victims of domestic violence. In private practice, she works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with Eating Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, and Adjustment Disorders. Her focus is primarily with adults and children over 12 years of age. When not at work, she enjoys reading, scrap booking, and hiking.


Jay D. Haar, MD, MPH
Dr. Haar received his MD and MPH in South Korea and completed his residency in psychiatry at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been in psychiatric private practice since 1978 and has been the Medical Director at The Center for Individual and Family Services for 15 years. Dr. Haar is now devoting his time to his private practice. He is a good clinician and provides psychotherapy and medication when needed. He prefers patients referred by their physicians. He enjoys music, golf and carpentry.


Karen Morkel Smith, MSW, LISW, ACSW
Karen holds a Master Degree of Social Work from Loyola University, Chicago and an Ohio License to practice independent counseling. She co-founded Life Steps Inc. in 1992 having had prior experience at Pasadena Child Guidance Clinic, California and The Center, Mansfield Ohio. She has provided supervision for social work students and for Ohio Licensure. Karen has a long history of providing services to clientele of all ages with special focus on parent guidance, blended families, adoption, grief work, couples and family relationships, adolescent self esteem and social skills, and victims of abuse. Her philosophy is that it is never too late to make changes in your life. When not busy at Life Steps Karen enjoys bridge, water aerobics, crafting, church fellowship but most of all spending time with her very large family.


Elizabeth (Betsy) Long, MSW, LISW
Betsy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a Master Degree of clinical social work from The Ohio State University. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and human services from the College of Wooster. Betsy has worked extensively in community mental health with children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Other experience includes working in hospital and nursing home settings and The Head Start program. She has been associated with Life Steps Inc. since 1993 providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families in a private practice setting. Betsy enjoys reading and craft projects. She looks forward to camping and travel with her family.


Jan McQuade, MA, PCC
Jan has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. She became a Professional Clinical Counselor through the State of Ohio in 2004. Jan's private practice began at Cornerstone Psychological Affiliates in Mansfield. Prior to private practice, Jan was a learning disability and elementary school teacher and a court appointed advocate for abused and neglected children. Jan counsels adult individuals and couples. She has worked with women individually and in groups for sexual abuse. When not at Life Steps, Jan enjoys being with her family, walking, reading, and scrap booking.


Kelly Woodworth, LPCC
Kelly has a Master’s Degree from Ashland Seminary in Ashland Ohio. She became a Masters Level Clinical Counselor in 2013. Prior to working private practice, she has worked at Community Behavioral Health Center in Beachwood Ohio as a Professional Counselor and Foundations for Living in Mansfield Ohio as a Therapist. In private practice she works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with Depression, Anxiety, and Adjustment Disorders. Her focus is primarily with adults and children over 12 years of age. When not at work, she enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and going on walks.


Greg T, LPCC-S, LICDC
Greg is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), licensed by the state of Ohio. He received a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Clinical Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary 2007. Greg works with adolescents, teens, and adults, Addiction, Anger Management, Anxiety, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Life Transitions, Men’s Issues, Spirituality, Sports Performance and Autism Spectrum. Greg values spending time with his family, watching local high school sports, and enjoys being outdoors fishing.


Shannon Robinson, LPCC
Shannon is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Otterbein University in 1992, and her Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Dayton in 1997 and Independence Licensure 1999.

Shannon really enjoys working with children. She works with children that have adjustment disorder, attention issues and mood disorders. She enjoys spending time with her family and beloved pug Linis.
